Description

A classic Tibetan Buddhist artwork or scroll known as a "Vajrasattva thangka" shows the Vajrasattva deity. Thangkas are often made on a silk or canvas backdrop with exquisite brushwork and brilliant colors by talented artisans. They are regarded as sacred items in Tibetan Buddhism and are used as visual aids for meditation.

In this Thangka the deity is shown in a sitting on a lotus throne and holding a bell in his left hand and a vajra (thunderbolt) in his right. The bell stands for knowledge and the sound of emptiness, while the vajra signifies skillful means or compassionate action. Vajrasattva is  seen with peaceful expression  and with a variety of jewelry and divine attributes.
