Description

Thangkas are Tibetan paintings used in traditional meditation practice. The visualizations they contain direct the meditator's process, and are held as a sacred object in Tibetan homes and monasteries, often displayed above shrines.

Kurkulla is one Buddhist Dakini originating from Uddiyana. She is known as Rigjyedma (reg-byed-ma) in Tibetan and is linked to Uddiyana ruler Indrabuti. Historical evidence suggests Kurkulla is a modified version of Hindu goddess Druga who was adopted into Buddhism as the Red Tara (sgrol-ma-dmae-po). She can promote positive energy in relationships and helps to attract our needs, as well as clear obstacles blocking our potential. Kurakula's semi wrathful nature can protect us from negative emotions such as anger, jealousy and retaliation. Displaying her flags and chanting her mantra can bring her influence into our environment.
