The Boston Center for Contemplative Practice Show
Thangka paintings have been utilized since the 7th century as aids for meditation practice. In addition to demonstration of a level of artistic craftsmanship, images in thangkas assist in developing clear visualizations of deities and their attributes, serve as aids for concentration, and bridge a link throughout lineages of teaching. Thangkas are also used as teaching aids to share paths of development or to share the stories of lives of masters throughout the ages. Surya Lal Shrestha will be bringing a large collection of hand-crafted thangkas from Nepal for view and sale.
