This astounding mountain can be seen from Pokhara, a popular tourist spot in Nepal.
Machhapuchhre, also known as "Fishtail," is a majestic mountain located in the Annapurna Himalayas of Nepal. Its unique double-peaked summit, resembling a fish's tail, rises to an elevation of 6,993 meters (22,943 feet) above sea level. This magnificent peak holds great cultural and religious significance for the local Gurung community, who consider it sacred and associated with the Hindu deities Shiva and Parvati. Climbing attempts on its main summit have been prohibited since the 1950s out of respect for these spiritual beliefs. Despite its inaccessibility to climbers, Machapuchare is a must-see spot along the trek to Annapurna Base Camp, offering stunning panoramic vistas.
