Description
A Thangka is an ancient Tibetan Buddhist artwork, consisting of a painting or stitched piece mounted on a textile. These works are used for spiritual practice and to convey profound concepts, such as the Pancha Kuber Thangka painting which represents five Kubera forms - Hindu and Buddhist entities renowned for protection of wealth. The intricate piece is made with vibrant colors to bring luck and success to your home or business if admired. The five Zambalas depicted in this thangka are:
- Yellow Zambala (Kubera): White Zambala is associated with Kubera, the god of Abundance. He is typically depicted as a white figure embracing a mongoose that is spraying gems, symbolizing the wealth and affluence Kubera grants.
- White Zambala (Vaishravana): Yellow Zambala is connected with Vaishravana, often represented sitting atop a lion while grasping a mongoose. Vaishravana is renowned as a sentinel of wealth and success.
- Red Zambala (Acala): Red Zambala is closely aligned with Acala, a powerful protector against obstacles and adversaries. He is seen as a protector of prosperity as well.
- Green Zambala (Amoghasiddhi): Amoghasiddhi, one of the Five Dhyani Buddhas, is associated with Green Zambala, who is symbolized in a tranquil form and is thought to bring luck and affluence.
- Black Zambala (Kubera or Mahakala): In certain cultures, a black Zambala is additionally featured, denoting Mahakala, a powerful protector deity. It's thought that he aids in removing blockages to prosperity and victory.
Thangka pieces depicting Zambala deities are crafted to encourage prosperous blessings and safety. Embellished with symbolic detail conveying traditional iconography, these works of art are hand-painted using semi-precious minerals on cotton canvas, crafted in Nepal.
