Rendered with incredible detail by skilled Himalayan artisans, Mahakala is seated on a vibrant lotus throne above a flowing river. He holds a ritual chopper (kartika) and a skull cup (kapala) - classic symbols in Buddhist Thangka paintings representing the cutting of ego and the offering of inner transformation.
Below him, a subdued figure represents the triumph over negative emotions. His fiery aura and symbolic accessories highlight his role as a guardian of Dharma . The presence of the sun and moon signifies balance and cosmic awareness.
