Description
Thangkas are traditional Tibetan Buddhist artworks typically depicting deities, Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, mandalas, or other holy symbols. Expertly made using careful brushwork and vivid colors, these works of art can come in various sizes, from minuscule to enormous.
Guru Rinpoche Thangka depict the figure in a traditional seated pose, sitting atop a lush lotus flower. He has an expression of serenity, and is dressed in fine clothing, bedecked in various jewelry. His right hand is making the 'abhaya mudra', which symbolizes protection and his left hand holds a powerful vajra. Moreover, Guru Rinpoche thangkas often display his eight glimmering forms as well as mantra symbols and sacred phrases associated with him.
