Description

Thangkas are a central part of Tibetan Buddhism, being employed as means of meditation, visual stimuli, and objects of devotion. Skillfully crafted by proficient artisans, they feature intricate designs and bright colors, showcasing the traditional processes and materials used in their making.

A Namgyalma thangka is a traditional Tibetan Buddhist painting or scroll that depicts the deity Namgyalma, also known as Ushnisha Vijaya. Namgyalma is a female Bodhisattva associated with longevity, purification, and the elimination of suffering. Namgyalma thangka's are extremely detailed and intricately hand painted with diluted mineral paints on silk or cotton canvas, symbolizing the connection between heaven and earth. Namgyalma thangka depicts her seated on a lotus throne, adorned with symbols and surrounded by celestial beings. She has multiple faces and arms holding implements or performing mudras symbolizing her attributes.
