This iconic image displays him in monastic robes with his right hand in the Bhumisparsha mudra (earth-touching gesture) and his left hand in the Dhyana mudra (meditation gesture).This Shakyamuni Buddha Thangka presents him with a peaceful and merciful expression, indicating his identity as the awakened one possessing insight and sympathy. Additionally, his lengthened earlobes are depicted in thangkas, displaying his royal background before he renounced luxury to pursue enlightenment.
