He is often portrayed seated on a lotus throne, symbolizing purity and enlightenment. Manjushri is usually depicted holding a flaming sword in his right hand, representing the wisdom that cuts through ignorance and delusion. His left hand holds a lotus flower on which rests the Prajnaparamita, the perfection of wisdom in the form of a sacred scripture.
