Description
White Tara Thangka is an iconic Tibetan Buddhist art piece, featuring the female bodhisattva White Tara at the centre. In Buddhism, White Tara symbolizes compassion, longevity, healing, and protection.
White Tara is depicted in a meditative pose on a lotus throne, with seven eyes symbolizing her ability to sense and answer to the suffering of people in all directions. White represents purity and unenlightened qualities. Her right hand is in the varada mudra, signifying her willingness to fulfill wishes and aspirations. Her left holds an utpala lotus, signifying the power to bring spiritual evolvement and enlightenment. Adorned with "triple gem" jewels and other symbols, White Tara is associated with guiding practitioners on the path to enlightenment.
