Handmade brass statue of a Dakini dancing which is a Sanskrit word meaning "space goer". They feature especially in Nepali and Tibetan mythology. This statue was made in Patan in the Valley of Kathmandu. Patan is renown for its expert craftsmen in statue making. The making of such statues is very time consuming with many steps involved in the process.
Dakinis are energetic beings in female form, evocative of the movement of energy in space. In this context, the sky or space indicates śūnyatā, the insubstantiality of all phenomena, which is, at the same time, the pure potentiality for all possible manifestations.
